Super Bowl Guacamole
Here it is - the long awaited Super Bowl Guacamole that my BFF and I made for our beloved Steelers Super Bowl party. As you can see, we are very talented! Ha-Ha! It was a big hit. An even bigger hit? Watching the Steelers win their sixth Super Bowl!
GO STEELERS!!!!!!!

Question of the Day - Green Beans
Question of the Day - Green Beans
Every Thanksgiving, my Mom and I have a conversation that goes a little something like this:
Kerri's Mom: Why aren't you eating any green beans?
Kerri: (rolls eyes) I don't like green beans.
Kerri's Mom: (genuine shock) YOU DON'T LIKE GREEN BEANS????? Since when?
Kerri: (angry stare) I have NEVER liked green beans.
Kerri's Mom: Have you ever tried a green bean?
Kerri: grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
The same conversation happens when I announce (every year) that I prefer dark meat to light meat. (But I will say that overall I am an equal-opportunity turkey eater but if I must pick I would go with dark meat.)
Question of the Day: What traditional Thanksgiving dish do you NOT like?
Question of the Day - Side Dish
Question of the Day - Side Dish
I want to apologize to everyone for disappearing the last couple of days. I can't really go into it, but I'm back now. And with that, let the Thanksgiving Questions begin...
We have this tradition in my family. And by "tradition" I mean "gross thing my dad, my brother and I do at the table that makes my mom really mad." When eating anything soft, but mashed potatoes works best, you push it out through your lips so you have a mashed potato smile. (Or just potatoes hanging out of your mouth. It actually is really gross now that I'm thinking about it.)
Kind of like the Godfather with that orange in the mouth. My mom HATES this.
Question of the Day: What is your favorite Thanksgiving side dish?
Question of the Day - Macy's Parade
Question of the Day - Macy's Parade
Motherofmany has written a post about someone very special to her who is battling cancer. Click here to see that post.
This brave little girl is trying to win a trip to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. You can vote for her once a day if you want by clicking here. You just need to put in your name, email and phone number. Besides helping a little girl, you are also entered for a chance to win a $500 Macy's Gift Card.
I'm a huge fan of that parade and watch it every year.
Question of the Day: If you could be anyone or do anything for the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, what would that be?
Question of the Day - Friday the 13th
Question of the Day - Friday the 13th
As I was writing the date for something at day job, I realized that today is Friday the 13th! Cue creepy music.
We've already established this week that I am a bamboo-killing machine. (Damn you, bamboo!) Plus, there was this one year where I kept breaking full-length mirrors. Not on purpose, but sticky tape is just not what it used to be.
Might this mirror-breaking, bamboo-killing lifestyle account for my current state of bleak affairs? Hmmmm....
Question of the Day: Are you superstitious?
Question of the Day - Movie In or Out
Question of the Day - Movie In or Out
It's been raining here in D.C. for what feels like 500 days. (I think it's actually been about two.) You know how tough it is to get out of bed when it's dark, rainy and gross outside.
I can think of about a million things I'd rather be doing than sitting at day job desk. It would be a really good day for a movie. I have three Netflix red envelopes just staring at me, pleading with me to watch them. I have all my old stand-bys that I heart. (See post on my love for Amanda Bynes.)
But noooooooooo, I have to be all responsible and stuff and come to stupid work. Sigh.
Question of the Day: Would you rather watch a movie at the theatre or home on DVD/TV?
Question of the Day - Veterans Day
Question of the Day - Veterans Day
Happy Veterans Day! I give a huge salute of thanks and gratitude to all who have served!
My day job office follows the Federal Government so we are actually closed today. However, my department has two big deadlines this week, so we are happily (lie) here at work. Eh, at least I have jeans on and get to take a day off around Thanksgiving to make up for it.
But I do realize that many people are at work and school today. Personally, there are certain days I think we should definitely have off. Of course, I'm extreme and think everyone should take my bday off - but there you go. ;-)
Question of the Day: What one day do you think every single person should have off?
Question of the Day - Favorite Flower
Question of the Day - Favorite Flower
When my friend moved to England a couple years ago, she gave me a ton of stuff from her apartment. One of those things was a bamboo plant. I tried to explain that my thumb is very far from green - it's more on the black side.
But my friend persisted. "You can't kill a bamboo!"
Oh, I beg to differ.
Someone else told me killing a bamboo plant is like the ultimate bad luck. GREAAAAAAT! (Rolls eyes dramatically.)
Question of the Day: What is your favorite flower and/or plant?
For kicks, head on over to Kimberly's site and vote for her awesome pictures. Click here to see her post on it. You can only vote one time ever and for just one picture. Just do it! Why? Because I said so - and also because Kimberly is a Steelers fan! Go Steelers!!!
Question of the Day - Fav TV Show
Question of the Day - Fav TV Show
Besides Glee (which I believe is back on this week - hoorah!), I have a new favorite tv show this season - Flash Forward! I had been Tivo-ing the episodes and caught up on all of them this weekend. Love, love, loved it!
If you like Lost, you will more than likely enjoy Flash Forward. Why? Because there's an overall mystery going on, but unlike Lost there are far less questions. While there isn't a polar bear hanging out on an island, there is a kangaroo that hops down the streets of L.A. from time-to-time. Also, everyone who has been killed off of Lost has headed over to the Flash Forward set.
Question of the Day: What television show are you currently obsessed with?
Question of the Day - Cereal
Question of the Day - Cereal
(Today's Question was a special request from dgenemore - she was very curious as to all of your answers.)
My mom is one of the few people I know who enjoys soggy cereal. Her usual routine is to mix a little granola with whatever cereal she is having, pour the milk and then walk away from the bowl for awhile.
My dad likes to mix as many cereals as humanly possible. He says this is to use up that last little bit that is in each box. My mom calls him a martyr.
Question of the Day: What is your favorite cereal?
I opened up a box of cereal and a vote for Writergrrl fell out. Funny how these things happen....
Question of the Day - Sleepy
Question of the Day - Sleepy
I'm sorry today's question is late. (I'm talking to you, Bathhouse.) I got to work very late today because I got up very late today. The main culprit is that I'm not getting enough sleep this week.
Yes, at first it was my fault because I got sucked into my Nora Roberts book and chose to stay up very late reading. But after that, I guess my body was mourning the end of a good book and refuses to fall asleep.
The worst is when you keep looking at the clock thinking, "if I fall asleep right now, I will still get 3 hours of sleep ... 2.5 hours ... 2 hours...."
Question of the Day: What helps you fall asleep?
While I was tossing and turning, I thought about how I love voting for Writergrrl!
Question of the Day - Clutter
Question of the Day - Clutter
I only subscribe to the Sunday paper, rather than the entire week. There are a couple reasons why.
1. I like to leisurely read it throughout the entire week. (Read: it takes me the whole week to go through it.)
2. During the week I am very busy watching tv, reading People, Glamour, whatever book I have, happy hour, blogging, etc.
3. The clutter that one day's paper produces is enough to make my small apartment look like disaster area.
Question of the Day: How do you keep clutter under control?
You know what's clutter-free? Voting for Writergrrl.
Question of the Day - Really Good Book
Question of the Day - Really Good Book
Last night I did something I haven't done in a long time. I kept the tv off (shock) and read a book. I also managed to turn my brain off and therefore didn't stress out about anything.
Escaping into someone else's world is sooooo nice! Naturally, I took this a bit too far and stayed up super late and am now very tired. But still, isn't getting absorbed into a really good book such a great feeling!
Question of the Day: What was the last book you just couldn't put down?
The character in my book told me to vote for Writergrrl. So I did.
Question of the Day - Child Stars
Question of the Day - Child Stars
Jodie Sweetin, or Stephanie from Full House, was on the Today Show this morning. She has a book out about her struggles with alcohol and drugs.
I always had an affection for Stephanie Tanner. How could you not? She was this cute little kid with curly hair and the catchphrase of "How rude!" But for me, I think I really related to her close relationship with Mr. Bear.
(If you didn't watch Full House, you will have no idea what I'm talking about!)
Question of the Day: Past or present, who is your favorite child star?
Stephanie Tanner voted for Writergrrl today - have you?
Question of the Day - Scary Movie
Question of the Day - Scary Movie
I remember the first time I ever watched The Exorcist that I thought I would never want to be anywhere near something like that. Then I decided to go to college at Georgetown.
For those unaware, a lot of the movie The Exorcist was filmed at Georgetown. "The Exorcist Steps," the long staircase used near the end of the movie, are right off campus. A lot of the sports team use those stairs for conditioning.
And even more drunk kids try to climb them while intoxicated. Doesn't help that at the very bottom sits a liquor store. ;-)
Happy Halloween everyone!!!
Question of the Day: What is the scariest movie you've ever seen?
I voted for Writergrrl today and then all my Halloween dreams came true!
Question of the Day - Halloween Candy
Question of the Day - Halloween Candy
GNO is tonight - hoorah! I encourage all to stop by, have a virtual drink and get your chat on!
I have to keep it brief today. I think we all know by now how I feel about candy corn and candy corn pumpkins. Yes, I have pledged my undying devotion to these concoctions of sugary goodness. I love them so much, that I am wearing candy corn earrings today. Must stay away from mirrors so as not to eat my own earlobe.
Question of the Day: What is your favorite Halloween candy?
Writergrrl now has over 500 votes. If she gets 100 more votes today, Nature Made is sending me 77 bags of candy corn pumpkins. (That is a complete lie but wouldn't it be so awesome if it were true!)
Question of the Day - Stephen King
Question of the Day - Stephen King
Whether someone's ankles are getting hobbled or two creepy twins are lingering around an even creepier hotel, Stephen King has generated many of my worst nightmares. So he's perfect for Halloween week!
I've never liked clowns. Pretty much from infancy, they have scared the bejesus out of me. But Stephen really solidified that fear with a certain knife-wielding clown in It. Yeah, you all know what I'm talking about.
One time in high school, a boy was trying to impress me in that stupid way teenage boys have by saying that he had watched the movie Carrie and it reminded him of me. Hmmm. My name is spelled with a K and no one has ever thrown a tampon at me so I don't really see the similarity.
Question of the Day: What is your favorite Stephen King novel and/or movie?
Have you voted for Writergrrl? I did and then I won a car!!! (Sometimes I lie. This is one of those times.)
Question of the Day - Unique Halloween Costumes
Question of the Day - Unique Halloween Costumes
It's Halloween week here at Question of the Day. Some of these questions might be repeats of last year's Halloween week but I didn't think you'd mind. Have a spooky day and Happy Halloween!!!
I'm pretty simplistic when it comes to Halloween costumes. Throw on a black dress, a pointed hat, paint my nails black and call me a witch. Or use the dance stuff I already own and go as a belly dancer.
So I really love when people take their costumes above and beyond. I'm looking forward to seeing what this year brings.
Question of the Day: What is an unique Halloween costume that you've seen, or worn?
I voted for Writergrrl today - twice!
Question of the Day - Marathon
Question of the Day - Marathon
As many of you know, I live in the DC area. Yesterday brought us the annual Marine Corps Marathon. I had several friends run in it so I would like to give them a big shout out of congratulations!!!
I've never run a marathon and not to put myself down, but I don't think I could run a marathon. I mean, I run about 3-5 miles almost every day at the gym but something about the idea of an entire marathon scares the crap out of me. Although, I bet if I did run a marathon I could eat like six bags of candy corn. Hmmmmm...
Question of the Day: Have you ever, or would you ever, run a marathon?
Have you voted for Writergrrl today?
Question of the Day - Worst Subject
Question of the Day - Worst Subject
I was forced to take philosophy in college. I think I may have went into the class thinking it might be cool. But I quickly learned that philosophy is definitely not my bag.
The professor was always asking me questions like, "What are you? Are you a being? If you are a being, where should you be?"
SHUT UP! I know I should not BE in this damn class.
Question of the Day: What was your worst school subject?
Question of the Day - Favorite Color
Question of the Day - Favorite Color
One of my favorite parts of Monty Python and the Holy Grail is the scene at the Bridge of Death. For those not familiar, in order to cross the Bridge of Death, the Bridgekeeper has to ask you three questions. If you get one wrong, you fall off the bridge.
When Galahad's turn comes, he gets his first two questions right - What is your name and What is your quest? But then it's time for the third question.
Bridgekeeper: What ... is your favorite color?
Galahad: Blue. No, yell... (And over the side he goes.)
Question of the Day: What is your favorite color?
I was vote #343 for Writergrrl this morning? What number were you?
Where's that old question?
Where's that old question?
What happened to that super-funny question? Never fear - it's still there! Just check the archives on the left-hand side below.
