Question of the Day

Posted by Kerri Posted on: 10/15/08

Question of the Day

Barbies, Cabbage Patch Dolls, He-man, She-ra, Hot Wheels, My Little Pony....

My buddy, my buddy, whereever I go, he goes ... Kid sister, kid sister...

Growing up, my brother and I kept a lot of our toys down in the basement. I had a whole setup involving my Barbie townhouse, my Barbie pink corvette and my Barbie hair salon. Unfortunately, my brother's G.I. Joe and Mr. Transformer lived across the basement in Castle Grayskull and would often infiltrate the Barbie townhouse and, well, pillage....

Question of the Day: What was your favorite childhood toy?

  • My favorite was Strawberry shortcake... I had the whole set everything, then gave it away to???? 12 years ago...now my daughter is 4 and is into Ssc, how I wish I would have held on to my stuff, if only I knew. The new SSC doesn't compare to the vintage one...and finding SSC stuff is almost impossible these days!

  • I was into Cabbage Patch Kids too, and have about 30 of them that I managed to keep, and have passed on to my daughter.

  • I had Rollerblade Barbie. She came with a little rollerblading outfit, knee pads, elbow pads, and some badass rollerblades that sparked when you ran them across the table (like the spark in a lighter). She got recalled pretty soon after I outgrew her, because some little girl sprayed her little brother's underpants with hairspray and set him on fire using the sparks on her rollerblade Barbie. I think I still have her somewhere.

  • My cousin, a boy, and I, a girl, were OBSESSED with He-man. We had Castle Gray Skull, He-man, Prince Adam (alter-ego who wore a white shirt and purple pants) She-ra, Skeletor and Evil Lyn, Merman, Battle Cat & Panthor, Teela, Man-at-Arms, you name it. One of my favorite birthdays, I opened He-man gifts all day--at breafast there was one, in my lunch box, with dessert, it was great!

  • Also, my brother and I would clear my dad's desk off and erect a wrestling ring and stage matches between our Rowdy Roddy Piper and George the Animal Steele action figures.

  • i loved those bed tents - the ones you just put on the top of your regular bed to sleep in. i used to fill mine with pillows and stick me and my sister in it and then we would fly down the stairs.

  • I hate to date myself, but i loved my Tiny Tears and Betsy Wetsy dolls!!!!

  • I loved Barbies, but the one toy that I was emotionally attached to was my first Cabbage Patch doll, which I lovingly named Crystal Diana. It's only because of the great Cabbage Patch scare, when there was a run on them. I desperately wanted a Teddy Ruxpin, but I am still waiting for that.

  • ps = i really like these questions.

  • I had some old-fashioned toys like a roller skates, stilts, and baby dolls. I still have the baby doll I pined for and got for Christmas in 1975 -- she has a little duct tape holding her legs on, but she still looks just as beautiful to me now as she did then! (Not bad for a baby in her 30s!)

  • I'd have to say my Cabbage Patch dolls and of course playing pretend with my Barbies. I only had one Ken and many Barbies, which made for some very elaborate and convoluted dating and family situations. And there was the one Barbie who got the experimental short haircut which rendered her so ugly, I had to make her the "villain" Barbie. I also made my Jem doll the villain because she was so much bigger than the Barbies and looked like an ogre in comparison.

  • I just loved my cutout dolls but my sister always cut off their heads and would put them in her play frying pan!
