Question of the Day

Question of the Day

You know that gorgeous golden retriever featured in many pictures on this site? It’s my nephew-dog, Vedder. (You can learn more about him by clicking on the “About Kerri” section.)

Well, Vedder’s birthday is this Sunday. Unfortunately, Vedder lives in a different state than me. I plan on sending him a birthday card but I have to wonder if I would throw him a big party for his special b-day if I lived nearby. After all, I used to celebrate my Cabbage Patch Dolls’ birthdays.

Question of the Day: Who (or what) is the strangest person (or thing) that you’ve celebrated?

  • The strangest person I've had to celebrate is my 3 year old daughter's imaginary friend, Henry. Henry recently turned 212 years old and my daughter insisted on a birthday party. I wrapped up some potpourri that I had been given by a coworker and I didn't particularly like. Luckily, Henry seemed to like it.

  • well, other then my pet's birthdays throughout the years, I did attend a party held for Abe Lincoln. I had a friend who was a big fan and he had us all over to his 'office cube' and Abe wore a party hat (he had a little statue on his desk)

  • when we were little, the "tooth fairy" must have "slept in" and did not make it to my little sister's pillow. so she was really upset that her tooth was still there in the morning. being the good big brother that i am, i told her the tooth fairy had died the night before in a horrible train accident. my sister cried all day. then we had a funeral in our attic. well, more of a memorial. i think my sister is still traumatized. she gets kind of withdrawn when someone brings up teeth or the dentist.

  • I had a birthday party for my first cat, with a can of wet food upended on a plate, covered in thin layer of dry food, and a candle... she got a pet fish for her birthday, and I hid the fish tank until the party. LOL I was a nanny to three young kids at the time, and they were totally into it!! LOL Let's see, what else? Well, 100s day at school, and yes, Prudence, Dr. Seuss' b'day each year... I also celebrate the First Day of Spring each year with ice cream sundaes. Life is too fun not to notice the little things!!! :) ~Mamabear
